MATEIS

The main contribution of MATEIS in the LABEX 2020-2024 program will be focused on the widening of LABEX skills in material science and engineering, within the prims Process-Characteristics-Performance. The teams of the laboratory pool their research within the framework of transversal research axes around composite materials, advanced processes, architectural materials and simulation, materials-environment interactions including surface properties. These researches should find points of convergence with the proposed developments around laser / matter interactions.

Collaborations with LABEX 2011-2019 projects have been built in particular with LabHC (Characterization of defects induced by ultrashort laser irradiation), LaMCoS (Thermic demonstrator for surfaces with gradient mechanical properties) and LGF (Thermoactive nanocomposite surfaces).

MATEIS expertise for LABEX 2020-2024 will be:
  • Powder fabrication, compounding and functionalization.
  • Processing of 3D-architectures with advanced methods (including additive manufacturing).
  • Optimization or functionalization of new surfaces modified by multi-processes approaches (sol-gel / laser for example).
  • Tribo-corrosion of treated surfaces.
  • Laser assistance for grafting or functionalization of biomaterials.
  • Biological and mechanical characterization of surface-modified implants.
  • Microstructural characterization of surfaces (TEM, in situ TEM and in situ SEM).
  • Characterization of functionalized Surface reactivity (corrosion and tribochemistry).
  • Effects of surface treatments on the propagation of fatigue cracks, fretting fatigue.
  • Evaluation of performance multi-functionality of modified surface under laser treatment.
