GIE MANUTECH USD is an innovating SME that develops and provides innovative technology and services in the field of surface texturing by femtosecond laser for various sectors of application since 2012. GIE MANUTECH USD develops its set of equipment within the EQUIPEX MANUTECH USD allowing high speed manufacturing of model and multi-scale surfaces and their characterization.

Femtosecond lasers offer unique set of texturing:
• Holes, grooves, multi-scale periodic structures on any kind of materials: metals & alloys, polymers, composites, crystals, glasses, human tissues
• Precision, very limited thermal effects (femtosecond laser)
• High speed, beam shaping

GIE MANUTECH USD industrial facility includes: 6 femtosecond lasers from 20 to 100W, 1 nanosecond laser and 2 CW lasers, 8 texturation platforms including 2 robot arms and 2 hybrid metallic additive manufacturing machine (SLM) coupled with femtosecond lasers, 2 characterization platforms (multi-scale measuring system for wettability, topography, tribology) + one FIB for nano-scale characterization of material and the production of TEM samples. GIE MANUTECH USD is located in the Manufacture district in Saint-Etienne with +500 m2 of technical platform and 12 people. GIE MANUTECH USD provides: design guidelines for users, show cost-effective use case, manufacture small batches, develop equipment platform, and propose educational and training. This industrial facility also provides dissemination activities and collaborative projects with all stakeholders. GIE MANUTECH USD is a member of French Tech network #IOT #Manufacturing to attract talents who will be able to create new local businesses through the use our laser texturation equipment. GIE MANUTECH USD is running the #MANUTECH program allowing startups SME’s to benefit from an access to MANUTECH’s ultrashort lasers platform to perform feasibility studies in preparation to a full proof of concept paving the way for the industrialization of innovative products. The first step of this program, the Welcome Pack consists in a feasibility study to test a concept or idea, including 3 days of access to our equipment.
