Axis 1 : SURFACE DESIGN & MANUFACTURING

Axis 1 (Surface Design & Manufacturing) focuses on the development of advanced laser processes and hybrid -chemical, electrical, mechanical and-optical- approaches to structure surfaces on extreme scales; from large areas to the nanoscale.

These processes rely on ultrafast laser irradiation, beam engineering, additive and subtractive 2D&3D manufacturing, chemical and mechanical techniques to generate multifunctional and multiscale surfaces by shape and structural design.

New functions are expected to emerge from controlling topography and physico-chemistry of matter on ultimate scales.
